The new season is nearly upon us and we couldn’t be feeling better about our fantastic venue and all we offer here at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant!

Our 2020 Menu

We’ve been working over the last couple of months to put together and finalise this season’s menu and we think we’ve come up with a cracker this year!  We are extremely lucky to have a diverse team of chefs and front of house team – who bring their ‘home-cooking’ influences from all over the globe.  We’ve incorporated some of these flavours and ideas into our menu – and of course the global move towards plant-based and vegetarian dishes we couldn’t ignore either so we hope as our guests this year you find a greater variety of dishes.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they tell us – so enjoy one with us!  Our Dorset breakfast remains sourced locally, cooked fresh and is served from 9am every day until 11.30 (or 11am on Sundays).  We have introduced a vegan breakfast, a lovely light omelette with fresh local tomatoes and more importantly holiday pancakes – yep blow the diet we’re talking marshmallows and chocolate sauce…!!!!!

Firm favourites such as our best-selling local beer battered fish and chips, our steak and ale pie and bolognese remain, each with a 2020 facelift. Scampi has been replaced by a seafood basket to add a bit of variety to this classic dish with butterflied prawns, squid and cod bites – and now with our own recipe tartare sauce.  Our burger range has expanded due to popular demand and we now are showcasing our chef’s culinary capabilities in our ‘Signature Dish’ range.  Here you’ll find tofu noodle bowls, smokey ribs, Italian chicken and our engine grill steak alongside veggie quesadillas, Turkish-influenced kebabs and our fresh salmon stir fry.

We’ve taken a risk….. peas are off the menu!!  But instead we have expanded side options to cover bubble and squeak, lemony green beans and corn on the cob and now offer a choice of new potatoes alongside fries on many of our dishes. Most radical of all – we’ve put a unicorn in an ice cream sundae!  Well not an actual unicorn (we haven’t been able to catch one yet!), but a dish full of sparkle, candy, ice cream and sauce – topped with a wafer ‘horn’ almost looks the real thing!! Our children’s menu has been reduced in price for 2020 and offers the absolute best value we can whilst still using the best quality products.

Live Sport

Sky Sports has gone and BT Sport is now our channel to show live sports matches – so if you’re visiting us just for a drink and to cheer on your team then check out our ‘Bar Bites’ menu with frickles, brunch fries and falafel bites to name a few – perfect with a drink in hand – and more than a packet of crisps (but won’t spoil your dinner!!!). We wanted to provide more live entertainment for 2020 and our website now has an Events Calendar. We are beginning to add our 2020 events to this, most of which are free and open to local residents too!

We have introduced new theme nights from Monday to Friday that are available throughout the season – find out more.

Roast on the Coast

Due to the popularity of our Sunday Carvery, we have extended the hours so that it will be available from 12pm until 8pm, from March onwards.

The Little Fire Station Soft Play

Our Little Fire Station Soft Play continues to thrive and we are over the moon to welcome thousands of local and holidaying toddlers and young children to our safe, manageable soft play space every year.  And of course for the parents, care providers and group organisers there’s always a cup of hot Costa Coffee and a full menu of snacks, lunches and dinners served throughout the day.
